What are your secret reactions?

What are your secret reactions?

Life has created many secret reactions that live in my mind. Let me explain before you click away to an article with an author that actually makes sense..

  • We did not follow cleverly devised myths

Peter’s second letter speaks of the truth of Jesus Christ—and Peter’s message is as instructive to us today as it was to those who originally heard it. In this letter Peter confidently proclaims the lordship of Christ, rebutting the notion that the power of Jesus is just a cleverly contrived myth. Peter bears witness to a faith that is historic and real—not mythical but factual.

  • Gum tree branches falling  -  widow makers

Growing up in the 50s one of the conversation starters was that of the 'Widow Maker' which is a colloquial term utilised for want of a technical word - gum tree branches falling unexpectedly.

  • Recovering Advent. Christmas in context

Christmas reminds me of Bethlehem. Every year, during the Festive Season there is room for everyone and everything, but not for Jesus. We can be so absorbed by ‘stuff’ and busy-ness can leave the Lord to be an afterthought.

  • A dustbin and Christian life

When I was travelling in Cambodia, I found that almost every family owns at least one hammock. Given the pleasant weather and lovely natural scenery there, a nap in the hammock could be truly relaxing.

  • Television Armageddon

I blame reality TV for the fantasy world I find myself in. No one knows what’s real and what’s not anymore. No one seems to care. All everybody wants to see is amateurs imitate professionals and professionals try their hand at something they are an amateur in. Why??

  • Such a disappointment

I don’t do risk because it might fail. I don’t like making plans if I can’t see most if not all the outcome.

  • Radical Performance Enhancement Part 2- Through Spiritual Parenting

As mentioned in my first article on this topic performance review and appraisal is a part of daily life.  Whether in schools, even from the age of kindergarten or in the advanced stages of career it is continually measured and assessed.

  • What I learned writing for PSI

This is my second to last article for PSI. It feels like the end of an era.

  • So too in Churches - Lisa Curry’s 'Rushing Woman's Syndrome'

A News.com article revealed that national icon women's swimmer Lisa Curry whose marriage to Grant Kenny broke down spoke of the debilitating effect that RWS (Rushing Woman’s Syndrome) had on her and ultimately its cost was extreme.

  • Overcoming shame: More of You, less of me

God’s grace and mercy has been on my mind a lot lately.

  • Street preaching is no longer effective

Repent or you will go to hell! This confronting phrase appears to cause a lot of provocation among many. It has been called offensive, too harsh, wrong and repulsive. I've heard many Christians claim that 'hell fire and brimstone' street preaching is no longer effective in this modern day society.
