Beyond willpower
The gift of free will is powerful, and the strength of human willpower has been demonstrated many times throughout history. Yet willpower alone cannot accomplish everything. Where willpower wanes, we see a need for something beyond human strength. Hope; and it is hope in God and His ability to heal, restore and make new that is most powerful..

Healing Waters
One of the things that I’ve learnt about myself over the years is just how much I love water.

What is “true” Christianity? Not playing by the rules
Everyone who plays a sport knows the rules to that sport. In cricket, when the ball is bowled and hits the wickets the batter is out and walks. They are the rules. You never see the batter say, “I am not out! I want to change the rules!” Sport has rules that all agree upon and that is what defines that sport.

Devil May Cry’s Christian symbolism
Devil May Cry is a series of hack-and-slash video games featuring a slew of characters with half and quarter demon heritage who use their demonic powers and human determination to fight against forces of hell. Flashy visuals and a fusion of electronic metal music make the games all the more appealing to gamers looking to release some built-up anger.

Minister - a fresh congregation
We can look back with some humour when The Age’s Michael Gordon ran a fascinating piece on the 10 Commandments for a new PM (in Australia - we’ve had plenty of them in the past decade).

An Indomitable Spirit
It was meant to be just another tennis match on Court 18. It was the opening round of the 2010 Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Court 18 is not where the big blockbuster matches are played.

He Knows My Name
25 September, 1066, Stamford Bridge. A single figure cuts into the sky, feet planted, shoulders square. Thick arms, blood-streaked, hoist a battle axe aloft in a display of defiance. An opposing army lies before him, thousands of swords and spearheads glinting in the sun.

How do you fill your cup?
Emptying and filling up.
