A checklist before you post anything online

Why do we post that story or picture, that comment, share that video?.

  • The divine word of God

I heard a Hollywood actor speak today about the “antiquated” words of the Bible. He said they were irrelevant to our modern society. He was simply reflecting the views of most of western society in his statements.

  • The Changing Landscape

It’s hard to find someone in the world at the moment who doesn’t know about all the changes and challenges in the world. COVID-19 would seem the obvious one, but another is the struggle businesses are facing with being shut down for so long.

  • “It’s all a Conspiracy!”

Gone are the days when people used to say in withering-jest, “It’s all a conspiracy.” Shocked looks, eye-rolls, and sarcastic groans used to follow outlandish claims of the equally ‘outlandish’ conspiracy theorist. These days it seems everything is viewed as a conspiracy. Even highly respected governments haven’t escaped unscathed.

  • God, did you just call me?

I called out to my daughter recently and asked, ‘Are you ready for school yet?’

  • Hard work over natural-born intelligence

I missed an important quiz from one of my university courses last week that was worth a chunk of my grade.

  • Virtual high

In New Zealand, we are currently deliberating the contentious cannabis referendum – to vote YES or NO? To legalise, or not to legalise? Regardless of where your conscious allows you to vote, there is another, a more lucrative drug currently on the market.

  • He fell asleep in…

We were strolling through the war cemetery near the River Kwai in Thailand (of movie fame ‘Bridge Over the River Kwai’) close to the Myanmar (Burmese) border, reading the epitaphs on tombstones when I came across that of a twenty-six year old Aussie army sergeant. Its words jumped out at me and I called over my wife to read it too.

  • Before I was a racist, I was a sinner

Taken by storm, an outcry in rebellion to a history of oppression is heard throughout the world yearning for rectification. Statues pulled down. Names changed. History rewritten.

  • Reflections on purpose

Beneath every decision we make is a hidden motivator. Purpose. Whether consciously or subconsciously we move in the direction of our purpose. When we commit a kind deed, it comes from somewhere deep inside of us. A yearning to fulfil what is somehow empty.

  • Sonata No. 48 and the symphony of life…

Sometimes I can be a bit of a music nerd. I love classical music and often get wrapped up in songs, so I’d like to give a disclaimer right up front, that throughout this article, I may get carried away with some obvious clichés and analogies.

  • Diamonds -  not just show

Diamonds are just not for show unless you’re a James Bond movie advocate, to know that diamonds are valuable, I should say ‘really’ valuable. There is always a girl. I should say a really ‘attractive’ girl who likes diamonds. A great truth - we are all fascinated by diamonds.
