Mr Greg Smith SC MP introduced the guest speaker, the Hon Murray Gleeson AC QC, Former Chief Justice of The High Court of Australia. Mr Smith told of personal dealings and association with Chief Justice Gleeson, acknowledging his admiration for his fair dealings and knowledge of the Law.
Steve Estherby of FamilyVoice Australia commented: "Yet again Murray Gleeson summed up the important matters before our society. His short and powerful speech reiterated the importance of the traditional family. A father and mother demonstrate the virtue of self-sacrifice in contrast to a society which demands individual rights even to the detriment of others.
"More importantly he reminded us that the basis of the law in this land rests on and is immersed in the
beliefs, ethics and morality of our historical Judeo-Christian heritage."
The Rev Fred Nile MLC summed up the event by saying: "I was impressed with the Hon Murray Gleeson's call for Christians to be more active otherwise we will create a vacuum that other religious beliefs will seek to fill. The testimonies from the four MPs were also inspiring".
The Prayer Fellowship Luncheon 2009 drew together people of varying political persuasions and denominational beliefs, in fellowship is Christ which was evident throughout.
