One of the most widely-known Christian initiatives in the world will commence next month simultaneously in thousands of churches in over 150 countries across the world.
In Hong Kong, the annual campaign designed to promote the vision of the Alpha Course has already successfully raised awareness of the ten-week initiative through a wide range of methods, and more churches are ready to join.
Since as early as June, many churches from different denominations in Hong Kong have already been involved in inviting their congregations to the Alpha Course using a four-P strategy – “Plan,” “Pray,” “Prepare” and “Promote.”
As part of the effort, huge banners of Alpha Invitation have not only been posted on church buildings but also at tram stations, subway stations, and the pier. The Alpha advertisements are also printed on 40 public buses.
In addition, three Alpha Invitation Joint Prayer & Preparation Meetings were held on Jun. 16, Jul. 17, and Aug. 18, gathering Christians to pray for the invitation of non-believers and prepare for the coming spiritual battle.
In Hong Kong, the Alpha campaign is being described as one of the most aggressive Christian advertising campaigns ever, and already the fruit of Alpha Invitation is slowly growing. Over 50 churches and organizations are expected to run Alpha Course this fall. Business organizations such as Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, the second largest professional services firm in the world, will also participate.
And each day more organizations are being added to the list on the Alpha Course Hong Kong website.
Next month, believers and non-believers will be invited to the Alpha Supper to know more deeply about Christian faith in a social setting. The event will be hosted at many locations during the week of Sept. 18-24, and thousands of people are expected to attend.
