To me, one of the most sacred things about God is His devoted closeness. I love the way that he doesn’t shut the door when we mess up or run away when we act stupid, one too many times.
Recently, my strongest comfort has been how close God is to me, even when I don’t “feel” it.
How close He is in times of low and in the highs.
Below are unedited words that poured out of me some nights ago, straight from a place of NEED for the Father. I've been finding over and over the strength and comfort of forever needing a gracious Saviour.
No. 24 - He lies within
He's been shouting over me lately
"I'M NOT FAR AWAY”
He's been whispering right through my rib-cage and straight into the chasms of my heart
His love songs for me
His endless confessions of adoration
With each breath He pours into my lungs comes springtime songs
Truths and tales telling of hope and fruit and harvest
Until my lungs are bubbling over with His secrets
Which refresh my entirety
Wholly satisfied to forever thirst after more
I'm afraid of the place I'm in until I remember how much He loves me
And I breathe and listen to His heartbeat echo out my name
Perfectly timed to the rhythm, the pages of my destiny are being inscribed onto the earth
His glory and beauty carved onto everything we see
Nothing untouched by redemption
The snakes and weeds are trampled by the hoards of worshipers dancing and praising in the rain
Parading through the streets in triumph
In honour of the One we don't deserve
Yet have been given complete kinship with
Thousands march and weep, fight and leap; all with joy and spirit, emotion and thankfulness
The honour to be Your daughter is one I don't quite know how to bear
but will wear, with complete and utter pride and belief that
you are worthy of my complete and utter pride and belief
Endless is my song for You
Let me bring you thanks for each precious moment of your presence
You're the only one who can heal me from the inside out
You've been there, you are there and you will be there, yet you're still sovereign and devoted to me
Your desire for me is the healing that I need
You're there when I hide in shadow and when I'm dancing in light
Both times as valuable and as glorious as the other
Both filled with hope and compassion
Both filled with presence.
