Manchester United continued their dismal start to the season with another draw this time to lowly ranked West Brom. Although United haven't lost a game yet, they have drawn too many and now see City above them. Rooney's off field problems aren't helping the club as rumours surface that he is not happy at Old Trafford. West Brom did remarkably well to come from 2-0 down to steal a point at the Theatre of Dreams and leave the united faithful wondering how they are going to challenge Chelsea this season.
Chelsea meanwhile also struggled away from home with many injuries. Aston Villa was the setting for the game of the week however both teams failed to deliver. It was an entertaining scoreless draw with both teams having many good chances. Anelka hit the crossbar late on with a diving header and Villa also had chances in injury time. In all a draw was probably a correct result that kept Chelsea at the top of the table.
Liverpool travelled down the road to cross town rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby. Liverpool were finally bought out which brought an end to an ongoing situation. The new owners were there to watch the first game after taking over but wouldn't have been happy with what they saw. Everton's Tim Cahill was on target early to silence the travelling supporters. Liverpool couldn't compete after that and Everton went on to score again and win 2-0 much to the delight of the blue half of the City. Liverpool are now 2nd last and in real danger of losing some players if they don't turn there form around quickly.
In the weekends other matches Spurs won 2-1 away at Fulham for Mark Hughes first loss at home for the Cottages. Arsenal kept the pressure on with a 2-1 win over Birmingham City at the Emirates. Newcastle were held to a 2-2 draw at home with Wigan. Wolves and West Ham shared the spoils with a scoreless draw whilst Blackburn and Sunderland played out a very entertaining 0-0 draw at Ewood Park. Bolton also won an important 3 points with a 2-1 Win over Stoke City at the Reebok.
