Argentinean ace Milito was the hero as he scored a sensational brace to secure an unprecedented treble. Milito took his first strike with some class after a neat flick on by Sneijder and then a classy shimmy before chipping the ball past the Bayern keeper. In the playoff final at Wembley in the championship in England, Blackpool took on Cardiff City. Blackpool twice came from behind to win 3-2 and secure the seaside town a place in England's elite.
Blackpool have the second lowest home crowd average this year in the Championship with just 8,000 turning up regularly. However at Wembley Blackpool brought a big following and after the game Ian Holloway was speechless as he was odds on favourite to take Blackpool down to League 1. However he pulled off a remarkable turn around to take them up which has made him a legend at the Tangerines home ground.
As the season has now finished across Europe, attention now turns to the World Cup and country's squads as friendlies begin to be played. There has already been some surprise exclusions from national teams whilst others are still fine tuning their selections before sending their teams to South Africa.
On Monday night Australia played New Zealand in a friendly before Australia head off to South Africa. New Zealand had a great start to the match, controlling most of the first half and were rewarded with a 1-0 first half lead. It could have been much worse as the Kiwis hit the bar twice in the opening 45 minutes. However after the break Australia came out much brighter and scored an equaliser before taking control of the match. Then with seconds remaining Australia scored a winner that was harsh on New Zealand as it was a very even contest.
