Both players' contracts are up and the club will need to replace their experienced players who are leaving before the season begins. Chelsea have clearly stated that the Champions League is their top priority this season after falling to eventual Champions Inter Milan in the Quarter finals last season.
Newcastle, West Brom and Blackpool are also trying to bolster their squads ahead of their return to the top flight. All 3 teams are looking to stay up this season and will all have to spend if they are to have a chance of staying in England's Top flight.
