Manchester United struggled to win again this time visiting the Stadium of Light. Sunderland had a game plan and stuck to it and deserved a point as United struggled to produce many chances. When United did see the goals, they were quiet a way off target and some desperate defending kept the score goalless. Although United haven't lost this season, its their 4th draw which sees them drop to 3rd in the table and 5 points behind Chelsea.
The Blue half of Manchester were celebrating as they climbed above United with a 2-1 win over Newcastle at Eastlands. Tevez was again excellent as he and Johnson both scored for City. City are now 2nd and only 4 points behind leaders Chelsea. City have been quietly creeping up the ladder and are finally paying back their fans after the club has spend many millions of pounds.
Liverpool slumped to yet another defeat, this time at home to lowly Blackpool. Roy Hodgson is under enormous pressure as he finds his side in the bottom 3 after 7 games. This is one of the worst results for the club with Blackpool claiming their 3rd win of the season. Liverpool must now rally to turn their season around with the international break coming at the perfect time.
Meanwhile West Ham and Fulham played out a 1-1 draw at Upton Park whilst West Brom and Bolton shared the spoils in the Midlands. Stoke saw off a spirited Blackburn 1-0 and Wigan beat Wolves 2-0 in North Manchester. Everton were too strong away at Birmingham climbing off the foot of the table with a 2-0 away win whilst Tottenham were too strong for Aston Villa winning 2-1 at White Hart Lane.
There is no Premiership next weekend as Internationals take place.
