
Chelsea blew another lead to again struggle this time at home to Everton. Chelsea took the lead through Drogba however Beckford levelled with 5 minutes to go at Stamford Bridge to earn Everton a point at the death. Chelsea need to start picking up points quickly as they have been caught by both Manchester United and Arsenal and are now in 3rd position.
Manchester City continued their steady progress with a 1-0 home win against inform Bolton. City again looked to star striker Tevez to produce the winner as City quietly creep closer to the leaders. Bolton will look to next weeks Derby against Blackburn to get back to winning ways.
Birmingham hosted Tottenham and faced a difficult task in stopping spurs scoring. They did a great job, coming out with a 1-1 draw. Bassong scored for Spurs however Gardner cancelled out the spurs defender effort.
Other Saturday fixtures saw Blackburn comfortably beat seller dwellers Wolves 3-0. Emerton, Dunn and Neilson were all on target for Blackburn to ensure a tough Christmas campaign ahead for Wolves as they move further closer to be favourites to be first to be condemned to the Championship. Wigan and Stoke but shared the spoils in Lancashire with a 2-2 draw.
Sunday started with a fixture between promoted clubs West Brom and Newcastle. Most would have thought West Brom would have struggled this year but again the Baggies surprised the premier league with a shock 3-1 demolition of Newcastle with the Geordies scoring a late consolation goal. In the other match on Sunday Sunderland kept West Hams misery going, with a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light.
Monday night was the setting of Aston Villa travelling to Anfield. Liverpool were on top early and demolished a depleted Villa side coming out 3-0 winners. Liverpool are now back on track to try to make the top 4.
