The World Cup kicked off in style last Friday night as South Africa opened the 1st ever African World Cup. The African nation put on a fine show to open the biggest sporting event in the World before kicking-off, themselves, in the opening game. They got off to the best possible start, scoring the first goal of the 2010 World Cup in the second half however couldn't hold onto the lead as Mexico didn't read the script and levelled with 10 minutes remaining. The draw was still better then a defeat .

Rough Justice: Hawks superstar suspended for rough conduct
Hawthorn superstar Lance Franklin has been given a one-week suspension by the AFL Tribunal for rough contact. The clash came in the MCG thriller between the Hawks and the Sydney Swans on Sunday. Franklin collided with Swans player Martin Mattner. Franklin slid on his knees into Mattner, who appeared to turn slightly towards Franklin just before the moment of impact. This spells trouble for Franklin as it is the third time in the past eight games he has been involved in a head-high collision.
