The Uniting Church of Australia is gearing up to celebrate its 30th Anniversary of its founding on June 22nd 1977. Jim Mein, the Moderator of the Uniting Church said that this anniversary was a good time to look at the church and the way God wants it to be.
Mr. Mein wrote in the Insight publication that as the Uniting Church gives thanks for Almighty God he hopes that all can reflect and open their hearts to Jesus.
The NSW Synod of the Uniting Church in Australia vision, he wrote, was and continues to be, "a movement of people connecting (the) community with Jesus."
In a letter to the publication, a person wrote that since the services in Sydney Town Hall in 1977, the Church has seen remarkable changes, not only in the life of the church, but also the world in which they live.
Despite this, the person wrote, one thing remained constant which was, "God's love for us and through Jesus (which) has stood the test of time and has guided our founders in their journeys over the years."
Mr. Mein concluded his article in the publication, saying that he prays and encourages the people's mission and vision to be consistent with the Uniting Church as a Spirit-led movement with a heart for Jesus.
