4 things I wish I knew this year

As I take some time to digest and process all the events of this year, I am thankful that I serve a God full of mercy and grace. Unfortunately, much of this year was filled with anxiety, worry, and unrest. .

  • Marking ourselves as Christians

Most people in Australia would work in a place in which discussion of religion, at least at a deep spiritual level, is rare or even discouraged.

  • Wrestling with doubt

Doubt hasn\'t always been well received by the church. You\'ve likely heard stories of churches where asking questions is frowned on. To doubt was to sin – with the implication that you just need to have a little more faith and just believe.

  • Five things I wish people would know before meeting my Asperger\'s husband

The Big Bang Theory may show the humorous side to the intense paranoia, struggles with empathy, sensory sensitivities and other key points of the mindset of the Asperger\'s person. Yet, beyond a comedic device, the struggle is real for the neurodiverse person and their family members.

  • Christmas crowding

People from the city and region of Huancayo are among the happiest in Peru, according to a report by Jorge Yamamoto. One of the reasons given for this is that people in Huancayo work hard, but they also party hard.

  • Christmas across the world

  • The veils she wore

\"Greetings, you who are highly favoured!\" the angel said. \"The Lord is with you.\" he said (Luke chapter 1). And Mary was greatly troubled.

  • A love that looks different

For the last month or so, I have been wrestling a lot with how blindingly different Christians are in society today. Pick pretty much any subject; the Christian viewpoint is now one that is not fondly looked upon by the general public.

  • When our leaders fail

Recently the personal sins of my church leaders have been brought to my attention. Some of them I have seen for a while; others I have only just come to see.

  • Polishing hard things

One of the great joys I have stumbled across in my line of work is pounamu carving. Pounamu is hard and highly valued stone that is commonly known as greenstone or jade.

  • Guard your heart this Christmas

Christmas. The time of year when fellowship seems to be a universal dream. Families reunite, friends meet up, couples stick together like glue... arguments are had, feuds rekindled, mistakes made.
