Another Revolution

Another Revolution

A new year has commenced. Or should I say another?.

  • Growing smaller

I live in a shed. It's not as exotic as it sounds; it's an insulated sleep out.

  • The new conservative counter-culture

Sounds like an oxymoron right? When we hear the phrase 'counter-culture' we think of 1960s hippies and radical activists seeking to challenge the status quo and overthrow the old, rigid norms holding society back from a bright progressive future.

  • Glitter and gold: buying the intangible

It got me wondering if that was really it, if we shop just because we need stuff.

  • The pilot’s dream: A WWII mission aviation legacy

The story of Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is fairly well known in mission circles. Birthed in the final throes of WWII, what started out with a few young Christian pilots has now become an international organisation of nearly 1,500 staff.

  • Oh the places you’ll go…when you say yes

In early October after weeks of planning, preparing, fundraising, organising visas, and packing, I flew over to South Africa with a heart full of gratitude and expectation, ready to begin the Harvest School of Missions.

  • It’s not about being right

There’s an adage about the internet: “Don’t read the comments.” I should probably listen to that advice more often.

  • Community

A sense of belonging is like invisible roots, planting us within a social field. In a good environment well-being develops, comfort and loyalty envelopes, and this is all a desirable state for a person.

  • Cruise life and the servants behind the luxury!

Late last year my wife and I entered the world of cruising for the first time. This experience felt like we had entered some sort of alternate reality where suddenly you could exchange your normal day life for one where you work on magic currency.

  • Being that person with poor self-control

As an ENFP with the word FEELING right in the middle of my personality type (hint: it’s the ‘F’), I tend to react to things emotionally.

  • The fierce urgency of now

Particular moments in Christian history proved undeniably defining. Times where great acts upended the world for good, like during book of Acts, or for ill, as seen in periods like the Dark Ages.

  • The man Jesus talks about

I stopped to look at a particular man the other day. But then I kept walking. I saw him from a distance and kept my eyes on him until I stood before him.
