Pulling no punches on toxic masculinity

Pulling no punches on toxic masculinity

The debate has been fierce and rigorous. Social media has lit up like a Sydney skyline on New Year’s Eve. Why? Gillette released an advertisement. It hit a nerve, and stirred a national discussion.  .

  • Walking in your Relationship with Jesus

Over this summer period, I have been away on holiday. It has been a great time getting refreshed and renewed as I embark on a big year of ministry in 2019. The other day, I had some reflecting time.

  • Russian doll

Reflecting on years gone by, I often imagine each season as a different version of myself characterised by life events, accomplishments and lessons, and a Taylor Swift song. My life then hangs, a string of polaroid snapshots of what seems to be a different girl.

  • When you have no prayers left

My toes dig into wet sand. I stand at the water’s edge and watch as a gentle breeze ripples through the silver ocean. I breathe in salty air, searching for the words, but I can’t find any. I have no prayers left.

  • Person of faith: Pedro Ferdinand De Quiros

Who would have thought controversy surrounds the 'Great Southland of the Holy Spirit'? Four hundred years ago sailors and explorers were the heroic adventurers of their day. Religion, rewards and reputation drove many to sail beyond the horizon into the unknown.

  • Need of the hour

Have you ever thought about the moments in life where you have felt the most alive? We often catch ourselves looking back in order to look forward - in a sense, our past is either a springboard or a sinkhole by which we measure our lives and who we have become. • Australia Day - 'national back to basics'

We as a nation celebrate on Saturday 'Australia Day' on the 26 January. It is the one day of the year where the Australian Flag comes out in mass, displayed on cars and houses alike. Its citizens take a deep breath, offering a quiet thank you for this bountiful country, and enjoy a variety of measures to celebrate such a nation.

  • Morality – objective or subjective?

    Night and day.

  • Barefoot and spiritually broke

The new year never fails to make us reflect and compare what our goals were and what we actually achieved in the previous year. For many of us it's something we’d rather ignore due to the harsh reality that some haven’t accomplished as much as they’d hoped.

  • The most important message

Well happy new year! You have got to love January. Things are not quite as busy in Australia, as they are elsewhere in the world. It’s the middle of summer, it’s stinking hot and half the population are the beach. Everyone is just a little more relaxed and optimistic.
