Can I trust God’s promises?

Can I trust God’s promises?

Something that’s been on my mind a lot lately are the promises of God and the promises he has for my life. A friend of mine asked me, “Do you really believe every one of God’s promises come true?” and my knee-jerk reaction was to criticise that idea as doubt in God’s word and make sure they knew they are wrong for even allowing that thought, but instead I took the time to consider the question..

  • Intentionally wrestling with God

Sport provides the perfect vehicle to challenge yourself. From motivational goals such as losing weight or chasing an Olympic Gold Medal, sport tests our capabilities and perseverance. Eric Liddell, missionary and Olympic medallist from“Chariots of Fire”, spoke of the way striving in sport reflected his walk with God.

  • You are next in line

Have you ever woken up thinking of the great things you could do for God, only to have something bad happen and your thinking change to maybe you are not so good? Have you heard testimonies of people in church and felt insignificant and overlooked?

  • Kaleidoscope of wisdom

I recently overheard a conversation of someone saying that they had seen a specialist.  That part was normal, and totally fine, but what followed grieved me. Everybody knows and complains about hospital food, but when I have had to go into hospital I always found it to be reasonable, until my last stay.

  • Dare to Accomplish

When contemplating the future from the present, it is difficult to imagine what lies ahead, despite the fact that we all plan ahead. From recent memory, I recall that finding a way to understand what our purpose is can actually help in this regard.

  • No pain, no gain

The day finally came when I would walk proudly across that brightly lit stage to shake the hand of the man who would give me the piece of paper explaining what I had spent 3.5 years focussing on to officially qualify in. BIG sigh of relief when I held that paper in my hand. It was finally over.

  • Good friends are good for the soul

    How amazing are friends?

  • The armour of God: helmet of salvation

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

  • Let’s become known for what we are for

A couple of weeks ago I went with a bunch of mates to a bar in downtown Auckland. I saw one of the teachers from the school I do youth work in and in a surprised voice she said “What are you doing here? I thought this would be the last place I’d ever see you.”
