Finding God’s will… by having a barbeque!

Finding God’s will… by having a barbeque!

As a Pastor, I can recall numerous times sitting across from earnest youth and young adults who are pouring their hearts out to me. And time after time, I get hit with the statement (or something like it), “I just want to do God’s will for my life…but I don’t know what it is”.

  • Why we should be more like Olympians

The Olympics has understandably been a hot topic of conversation as of late, but it’s caused me some realisations and in a conversation with a colleague I quickly realised there is so much to learn from our Olympians.

  • Following my owner

I was walking along a popular beach during midday. Some people were by themselves like me, and others with a friend or with their dog. I kept observing the interactions between the dog and its owner.

  • Turn off the news

I live in Victoria where every day Premier Daniel Andrews fronts a media conference to provide a COVID-19 daily update. Andrews informs the public how many cases of COVID-19 there are in Victoria, the daily increase in cases from yesterday, the number of Victorians whose lives have been taken by COVID-19 and the number of tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

  • Eugenics ugly head

In my archive I came across this Sydney Morning Herald article cited the case of a Ms Elaine Riddick whose miserable circumstances 48 years ago attracted the attention of social workers, who referred her case to the state's Eugenics Board.

  • How big is your ‘but’?

Recently I have found myself challenged by the frequency that the word “but” escapes my lips. In the midst of big life changes, faith steps, and everyday challenges I often hear myself throwing the word “but” around as an indicator that any number of excuses and faith-killing words are about to come out of my mouth.
