The World Council of Churches has announced that decisions at its 9th Assembly next year in Porto Alegre will take place using consensus voting. The First Pacific Islander to Lead An Australian Church
On the 29th September 2005 the Age has reported that Jason Kioa a former Tongan public relations officer was elected Moderator of the Uniting Church synod of Victoria and Tasmania making him the first Pacific islander to lead an Australian church. In 1983 Mr. Kioa has made a bargain with God which is if he gets out of the dentention centre he would serve the church for the rest of his life.
