“Jesus, the Lover of my soul, the One who’s in control when all the world fails me. Jesus, the One who draws me near, whose voice I long to hear; the One who is with me. On You who calms the seas, on You who longs to speak to me; on You I will wait patiently”.

When the noise in my soul is loud,
When the thoughts in my mind race,
I turn to You, O’ God –
the One who speaks peace to stormy hearts
and quiets restless minds.
Even the wind and the waves obey You.
At Your command, these proud waves halt.
The Prince of Peace still stills the gales that threaten to overwhelm
Small in faith though we may be,
in His kindness, He refuses to let us drown.
“O ye of little faith. Why did you doubt?”
He asks, with mercy in His eyes.
The King of love draws near to rescue His sinking child
And eyes uplifted to the Son – shining in gentle grace,
We, the many Peters, are rendered speechless, and gaze upon His face.
What generosity doth He bestow upon weaklings such as we
Such concern, compassion and pity – He remembers our frailty
From dust we were formed
Lowly, feeble beginnings …
Ah, but who despises the day of small beginnings?
Not He the Keeper of the flame.
He tends the flickering fire, binds up bruised reeds,
Renews the weary and heals the broken soul.
The Living Word speaks life to us, and quickens our spirits:
“You are Peter – the rock, and upon this rock I will build:
A life that’s steady, unshakeable and sure,
One not easily tossed by deceitful winds”.
And so, He fans to flame the smouldering wick
Embers glowing, the blaze is rekindled:
It is His gentleness that makes us great.
O Ruler of my heart, whisper again the notes of first love
That I might sing the song of the Beloved:
“Our love is ours to give, and it is wholly Thine
I am my Beloved’s and He is mine.
His desire is for me”.
Let Your strength be perfected in my weakness today
Your grace sufficient, in moments of doubt.
Germinate the mustard seeds of faith O’ God
Let confidence in Your mercy be the hallmark of my life.
Plant me in Your House.
