During a recent visit to the Gold Coast (the de facto Surfing Capital of Oz), where I met with my brother, after we'd discussed the Big Questions of Life, such as which is the best surfing break, Snapper Rocks or The Alley, we fell into a deeper discussion, commiserating together about the moral decline of the West and in particular Australia.
He made the comment 'We've had our turn, now it's theirs'. Startled, I just had to know what he meant. More discussion ensued, through which he presented a mind opening case, introducing me to a phenomenon or perhaps we could call it a movement, which I'd hitherto not considered.
Make Love, Not War
Let's go back to the Sixties (Chill out! Gen XYZ it's not a nostalgic look at my adolescent years) to examine the seeds of revolution which have given birth to the flagrant immorality of our present age.
The so-called 'Sexual Revolution' of the Sixties is now part of the West's historical narrative. Yes before many of you were born, there was a revolution fomenting. The enlightened Elites, University Academics and alike, were besotted Marxists, they had tired of Christian mores.
They were regarded as too restrictive, ideas like monogamy, no pre-marital sex and heterosexuality had been in the foundational values of Western Societies for centuries, but 'Times they were a changin' (Bob Dylan). It was time to cast off the shackles of Christian tradition and embrace a new paradigm, one without moral boundaries.
The development of the 'Pill' sponsored by the radical Feminist and Women's Rights Campaigner Margaret Sanger, threw the door wide open to sex without the fear of conception and therefore sex without obligation. The opportunity for unbridled sexual activity with multiple partners was now a reality and with no down side. Finally, Man's ingenuity had triumphed over Nature's restrictions and over God's ordained plan.
These were turbulent times, if my memory is correct, we were living in within a vortex of Nuclear annihilation, the Vietnam War (the TV News was awash with blood and gore), the Women's Rights and Black Rights Movements just to name a few. It was within this moving matrix of foment that the Sexual Revolution took root.
Today we live in it's wake. And as a result of the horrors of Ecclesiastical and Institutional Child Sexual abuse, occurring during this period and beyond, we have lost all credibility, to dictate what is acceptable sexual behaviour, 'We've had our turn'.
Now it's Their Turn
The Elite who occupy positions of influence are taking us on journey into the unknown. Their mantra is 'viva la revolucion', which means the Sexual Revolution of the Sixties was just the beginning of wider and broader movement to unshackle sex for it's Biblical moorings, in order to take it further. The fruits of the revolution are ubiquitous in Western nations.
Let's take a look at what these Elites (proponents of Marxist ideology) have given us
- The infamous 'Tinder', a casual sex website, along with a myriad of nefarious imitations, providing sex on demand without commitment.
- Gender denial programs sponsored by our Government – The Safe Schools Program. (The author,a card carrying Marist)
- Transgender promotional campaigns. What I turn of events even Germaine Greer (Author of pivotal 'Female Eunuch') who was a staunch proponent of the sexual revolution in the Sixties, was berated by the Transgender Movement recently. Evidently, her what was once considered extreme views are too conservative. Here's a Tweet by Rachel Melhuish, Transgender Activist. While debate in a university should be encouraged, hosting a speaker with such problematic and hateful views towards marginalised and vulnerable groups is dangerous."
- The redefinition of marriage and the normalization of Homosexuality
- The wholesale availability of Pornography, resulting in teenage addiction, with grave psychological consequences.
These are the present realities and the most ominous aspect of these disparate movements is that they have formed a loose alliance to push for more sexual radicalization. Each using the same tactics (calling anyone who disagrees with them a bigot and something-phobic), then rushing to each other's defense when challenged by conservatives.
To add insult to injury, the media their most loyal sycophants, bring to bear every effort to advance their perverse cause.
Tacitus
In Rome where all things Hideous & Shameful ...find their Centre & become Popular. Tacitus, Annals 115 AD
Sadly, I feel that worse is yet to come. The re- redefinition of marriage, which sanctions any number of individuals and of both genders to form a married unit, will be next. Followed by the decriminalization of sex with animals, and sex in public places, the latter has been reported upon in the media last week, it's already happening.
Given our fallen human nature, obsession with sex, and the removal of Biblical restraints, which were once enshrined in Law, it's difficult to envisage a strong and stable society surviving. Sadly, it's easy to see the disintegration of society, as dysfunctional families replace functional ones and where broken families produce broken adults, welcome our new Sodom.
Dramatic and perhaps you disagree. For well may the dogs lick my bones for a number of years yet,but time will tell.
When we finally sink into the darkness of the abyss, living in a milieu not dissimilar to the Ancient World, in which light of Christianity first shone, on the decadent Roman Empire. Then finally, the followers of Jesus might raise their voice, in an appeal to their God to answers their prayers.
